چکیده

Driven by climate change mitigation efforts, wind energy has significantly increased in recent years. In this context, it is essential to make its exploitation costeffective. Maintenance of wind turbines therefore playsan essential role reducing breakdowns and ensuring high productivity levels. In this paper we discuss a challenging maintenance scheduling problem rising in wind farms. While the research in the field primarily focuses on condition-based maintenance strategies, we aim to address the problem on a short-term horizon considering fine-grained resource management. The objective is to find a maintenance plan that maximizes the production of the turbines while taking into account wind predictions, multiple task execution modes, and task-technician assignment constraints. To solve this problem, we propose a constraint programmingbased large neighborhood search approach. We also propose two integer linear programming formulations that we solve using a commercial solver. We report results on randomly generated instances built with input from wind forecasting and maintenance scheduling software companies.

Multi-component wind turbine modeling and simulation for wind farm operations and maintenance

Wind farms produce electricity and provide a source of renewable energy. The growth in wind farm installations in the past 10 years has led to an increase in the number of wind turbines reaching the end of their manufacturing warranties. As a consequence, the wind industry is now facing a rising cost of unscheduled maintenance, which is pushing up the operation and maintenance expenditures. Win...

Scheduling the Maintenance of Wind Farms for Minimizing Production Loss

With the extensive and worldwide increase of the market share of wind energy, the optimal operation of wind farms gains an ever growing significance. The planning and scheduling of maintenance operations is both decisive for turbine availability and a key component of the operational costs. This paper introduces a formal model of wind farm maintenance, and proposes a mixed-integer programming f...

Integration of structural health and condition monitoring into the life-cycle management of wind turbines

Cost-efficient operation and maintenance of wind turbines is among the major concerns for manufacturers, owners, and operators. Integrating structural health monitoring (SHM) into life-cycle management strategies can facilitate a costefficient and reliable operation of wind turbines. Furthermore, a precise scheduling of maintenance and repair work at minimum associated life-cycle costs is enabl...
